Steel - Structural beauty.
2001.
This project was the final step on my graduation as a bachelor in Architecture.
During my studies at my graduation, i was always interested in go deeper in technical knowledge in a way to express my architectural conceptions.
My hometown is land of a great companies of steel and extration and production of iron ore. Under the supervision of the project department of my college and a co-orientation of the leader engineer of Nexem ( Nucleo em exelencia em estruturas metálicas e mistas) i developed this commercial multi-floored building.
The structural conception was composed of 4 main pillars located in the edge of the glass prism building. That´s provides a very flexible floor plan in a way to re-arrange to offices layouts.
The complex is the main tower with 12 floors and a garage park building. All the structures were concepted in steel beams, mixed pillars composed with steel and concrete, pre-fab structured slabs.
The elevator walls is a re-forced concrete structure to helps to establish the whole set.

Educational building - Patio Roof
The upper patio roof.
This video shows a more about the roofing system of the upper patio.
The curved beams are the main structure of it. It´s clamped on the pillars in a very rigid connection to stablish the set. To help that there´s also cross bracing structures.
The covering system is made by a roof of a thermo-acustic aluminum 1mm zipped tiles.
In the crossing axis, there´s a natural ilumination provides by a shed. In addiction, the shed helps the natural ventilation because let the hot air scape by the top.
It´s not shown on this video the suspend ceeling system.

Educational building -Metal pergola
Metal Pergola.
The first look of the metal pergola that covers the main entrace of the building. This is a nice and smooth transition between outside and inside. In addiction, the width is very narrom and will be covered with a high performance glass.
The structure is made by a simple square 15x15cm section steel profile. It´s clamped on the main pillar and there is also some risers attached on the upper slab to stablish the set.

BWM Dealership in Florianópolis - Santa Catarina - Brazil - 2009
For this BMW Dealership the client used a former dealership bulding of another Brand as a base to renovation.
In this post, exactly, i will concentrate the explanation on this side building covered with a glass transparent roof that we developed as repair center for used Bmw Cars.
It´s a simple concept using a Base wall on decorative rocks and a metal structure that emerge from this base.
The metal structure was exposed in layers in a way that the user can read it till the final glass roof layer. This is a simple idea for reading all the elements that compose the unity.

Bmw dealership - Salvador - Brazil - 2010
In 2010 i developed a study for a client to approve with the BMW Brazil in a way to construct a dealership in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
This project was complex because we have to plan a few different activities in the same complex plus a high difficult landscape to settle it.
The direction was to work in several levels to make easy the access to the different functions and mitigate the cuts and fills off the ground.
On the lower part of it we have the main showroom. This is a Glass cube designed to maximize the exposition of the products. The nice details are the metal structure project inside of the glass curtain that support the cladding and the wood ceiling as well.
On the other side of the lower ground we designed another Glass showroom to expose used Bmw cars. On the addction of this two building we have a metal pergola that makes the transition and connect these blocks.
On the top of that, crowning these blocks, we have a closed building containing the repair center and the administration. To access that, you should do it on the upper level of the site.
I do like this project because it combines such different architectural program, a difficult landscape and a nice and balanced volumes.

Educational building - wood doors
On this last Thursday i visited the construction site of the educational building. I was surprised with the pro type of the conjunct of wood doors to the classrooms.
It´s composed by two doors, one in the front of that and the other on the back of the class. On the upper level we got a continue window fixed frames that allow to share the natural light between the classroom and the aisle.

Casa de cultura do Morro da Garça - Morro da Garça, Minas Gerais, Brazil (2004)
In 2004 i joined Bum desing to developed a proposal in a public context for Cultural Center at Morro da Garça, a little city at the State Minas Gerais.
I was immediately captured to be in this context because of the historical background of this place, site of many romances of Guimarães Rosa, one of the greatest writers of Brazil.
This area is very particular of Brazil. They have a great cusine and a way of living very particular and outside of the routine of the great centers of the country like São Paulo or Belo Horizonte ( the closest capital).
Well, so i am talking about great history, nice cuisine, warm people... For me it´s already a good motivation to be involved with.
The follow images try to translate the project. It´s include a renovation of a local building of 1900 and an add-on of a new building to complement the architectonic program. The complex would rescue .... and provides to the local population, a cultural center with a physical infrastructure for: events, meetings,culinary, art-crafts, library and museum. Aim to rescue the local way of living and expose that to visitors or the next generations.
On the physical resources, the excitement was plus because we could counter-balance the new techniques of construction such as metal structures with the traditional local "taipa de pilão", wich consist of settlement of clay on a wood frame. A rudimentar system, heritage from the arabians.

House in Vinhedo - São Paulo - Brazil. (2011)
I am pretty excited with this new house project in Vinhedo city nearby São Paulo capital. I am supporting my friend and talented architect Alexandre Freitas dos Santos on developing the project managing the draws, the compatibilization, modeling and rendering the 3d models and other further definitions.
It´s nice to be engaged in extra-jobs that you believe in it and provides you stamina to do it on your free time!
It´s really nice to be involved in a project that you beleive is well designed
So, i will keep you people updated about some news of this in near future.

Real State buldings
On this post I would like to show to you a little of my experience working as an architect developing products in the real state market in São Paulo city between 2003 / 2005.
I was part of a team of architect with managed by a leader architect developing these products.
The process involved the preliminar studies, formating for aproving at municipal habitation secretary, compatibility with instalations projects, executive project and final detailing.

House in Alphaville - São Paulo,Brazil. (2009)
On this post i am gonna show a few photos of a house i developed and support the constructions site as an architect at Lilian Wexler Architecture.
This house was an initiative of Alphaville urbanismo to start selling housing with their traditional new urban planning condominiums at outside são paulo city. experience
This project was developed in 2008 and finished in 2009.
After the jump you can see photos of the construction site and the first sketches of the house with a different kind of roof. Wich was rejected by the client.

Houses in countryside (2009)
On this post i am showing a projetct of 2009. This presentation i coordinated and developed with Lilian Wexler Architecture as an architect at it´s team.
The purpose was to offer to the investidor Haras larissa to ocupy part of it´s land with a pre-frab typologies of luxurie housing in a camp ambiance.
We had to developed four different typologies of houses ranging in sizes and simple and double levels.
To match properly with the country ambiances we suggest using a lot of stone walls, wood, cristal glass closing.
Was really pleasant to developed this houses for this special client. Hope you people like the brainstorm of ideas.

Educational building - Drywall
On this post i want to show some photos of the internal walls in drywall.
We already can see the internal final shape of the second floor classroom.
The Internal system is compoused following these analysys.
External - Cladding in pre-fab in concret - gap - blanket against moisture - dry wall structure + rock wool - double gypsum board.
Internal - It´s working with a double drywall structure + rock wool + double gypsum board = total 25cm between classroom and the hallway.

Space savers furniture.
Hi people.
I just received this news from a friend telling me about this interesting furniture design called Resource furniture.
It´s amazing how this team composed by architects, designers and mechanical engineers could create this clean, modern and very light "transformers" pieces.
You can check also all the others videos of this company at it channel at youtube .
For me, it´s exciting to see ideias that you, as a designer, might have had since as a kid. And in a wave of nostalgia... the only thing that pop up in my mind is that Disney´s cartoon of the 40´s...

Educational bulding - Visiting the ground classrooms.
On this post show a little about the ground floor of this building.
The Metal Structure is simples for this section. It´s made by a compousing pilar with metal and fill with concrete. This mix allowed the pilars keep the shape of 15x15cm and be inside the dry-walls.
For the basewalls, the constructor decided to do a masonry till the level of the windows. This is justifyed because it´s easy to flood in the summer tropical storms.
On the video bellow i show a little about the window compousing frame with the metal brise-soleil.

On this post i will share a visit on construction site on July 2010.
So far we´re following the schedule and we can see trougth this video the metal structure already consolidated.
It´s exciting to see the cladding in Pre-fab concrete posicioned and showing us the real form of the building and it´s inumerous architecture details.

Educational Building
A video for introducing the main project i am working with this year.
This project is about a expansion programa for a very know traditional school of the city of São Paulo.
This consist of a new building with 30 new classrooms for 350 students. The architecture program includes a new coverd patio for playing games, a new refeitorium and a whole new administration bulding.
The construction time schedule was very tight because it has to deal with the rest of the school working normally and not bothering the daily routine. For that, we have to choose to build it in a 18 months schedule. For that, was choosen metal structure and a cladding in pré-fac concrete painels to achieve this planning.
It´s quite impressive the velocity of construction with these materials, and needs a good pré-planning schedule and project to minimize whatever decisions in the construction site.
This fisrt post i will introduce the project using a 3d model developed in Autocad + Google Sketchup.

Minha casa minha vida!
I am really excited about the project of the brazilian architect Lelé ( João Figueiras Lima) for the Goverment social housing program "Minha casa minha vida".
Is the first time that i can realize the designing process is including so many aspects of the real life like Climate conditions, Site assemblymen, The weather, raw materials suply and others. All of that ally with a naive and warm design.
